Download Rapidsolution Software SCSI & RAID Devices Driver

Virtual Scsi Driver Software Miraplacid Publisher SDK TE v.7.2 Generates virtual printer driver to converts any printable documents to images in TIFF, JPEG, TGA, BMP, PNG, PDF formats, then save to file or upload to a server. SCSI miniport drivers for NT-based operating systems are HBA-specific but operating system-independent. That is, each miniport driver links itself with the system-supplied SCSI port driver, which is a dynamic-link library (DLL), and calls only the port driver's ScsiPort Xxx routines to communicate with the system and its HBA.

This section contains the following information:

SCSI miniport drivers for NT-based operating systems are HBA-specific but operating system-independent. That is, each miniport driver links itself with the system-supplied SCSI port driver, which is a dynamic-link library (DLL), and calls only the port driver's ScsiPortXxx routines to communicate with the system and its HBA. Such SCSI miniport drivers run on other Microsoft operating systems that support Microsoft Win32 applications and also export the ScsiPortXxx routines. For more information about the ScsiPortXxx routines, see SCSI Port Driver Support Routines.

Note that any SCSI miniport driver that calls routines other than the ScsiPortXxx cannot run in both Microsoft operating system environments. To remain portable across Microsoft Windows systems, including NT-based operating systems, SCSI miniport drivers must call only the system-supplied ScsiPortXxx.

A SCSI miniport driver can be a Plug and Play driver, or it can run as a legacy driver that does not participate in Plug and Play operations such as resource redistribution or power management. The primary differences between a Plug and Play and a legacy miniport driver are the order in which initialization routines are called and enforcement of certain restrictions that were applied to miniport drivers in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, but not enforced.

Enhancements

The following enhancements are in version M571:

  • Changed the load sequence to reduce the chance of breaking the tape near the leader pin and drive error 2E02 being reported when there are issues with the mechanical clutch.

  • Changed to report the correct drive error code, 2E07, in some cases where a 2E00 was being reported during a mid-tape recovery.

  • Reduced occurrences of 781x drive errors during writing/reading due to tension compensation being used unnecessarily.

  • Improved use of retries to reduce occurrence of 7060 drive errors during READ.

  • Reduced occurrences of dataset rewrites with marginal tape/drive combinations.

  • Improved the SAS interface in multi-initiator environments to prevent race conditions.

  • Cartridge Memory suspended write appends entry is now updated; previously it always reported zero.

  • Additional data now logged if an ERASE command fails to enable further analysis.

  • Changed the internal head brush usage criteria to reduce usage to when it is required.

Fixes

The following issues have been fixed in version M571:

  • Fixed a case where drive error 2C50 was reported on a load, following a failed attempt to partition the media.

  • Fixed a case where the drive could become unresponsive if an UNLOAD command was issued when the tape was near BOT.

  • Fix for a case where a drive could become unresponsive or report drive error 601D during a SPACE or LOCATE to EOD if a previous WRITE command had failed.

  • Fixed a case where drive error 7274 was incorrectly reported on a READ due to incorrect data for repeated suspended write appends.

  • Fixed issues where drive error 6353 was reported during a SPACE or LOCATE.

  • Fixed an issue where drive errors 5338 or 53A1 were intermittently reported incorrectly during POST or after an UNLOAD due to reading register values before they were updated.

  • Fixed an issue where an incorrect tape radius calculation could cause a high-speed locate at logical EOT to go past physical EOT.

  • Fixed a case where a drive could become unresponsive during a WRITE command due to reading unstable register values.

  • Fixed an issue where drive error 7346 was reported during an appended WRITE if error recovery was invoked.

  • Fixed a case where encrypted data could not be read if the encryption key had been changed when the data was written.

  • Fixed an issue where the host interface could incorrectly log byte counts when a CRC spans a transfer burst boundary.

  • Eliminated unnecessary SAS interface retries caused by retry counts not being cleared for TUR and REQUEST SENSE commands.

  • Fixed an issue that could cause a drive to become unresponsive if two conditions for an internal head brush occur at the same time.

Installation instructions

Use Library & Tape Tools (L&TT) to update the tape drive firmware. You can download L&TT from http://www.hpe.com/support/tapetools. Installation instructions for the L&TT utility and firmware update instructions are available in the latest version of the User Guide that is available after clicking the Documentation link on http://www.hpe.com/support/tapetools. Online help is also included with the utility.

Most versions of L&TT have the ability to obtain new firmware from the utility itself. If your version does not have this functionality or L&TT is not installed on a server with internet access, the L&TT firmware files can also be obtained on the external support website: http://www.hpe.com/support/storage.

To locate the firmware:

  1. Select your product from the Tape Storage list.

  2. Navigate to the Download Drivers and Software page.

  3. Select the operating system.

  4. Select Category = Firmware – Tape Storage.

  5. Locate an entry containing the phrase: “for use with Library and Tape Tools.”

    NOTE:

If no match is found, then L&TT is not supported on the selected combination of product and OS.

  6. After an entry is found, click the Download button to begin the download of the desired firmware file.

    NOTE:

If you have trouble finding your product or firmware, use the Product Search function from http://www.hpe.com/support/downloads.

NOTE:

Once the firmware update has started, do NOT power off the unit or interrupt the firmware update process until it is complete. Doing so could leave the tape drive in a non-usable state.
